"Nuat Boran", Thai Massage
An ancient bodywork practiced in Thailand. In America it is often called "Thai Massage," "Thai Yoga Massage," or "Thai Bodywork". Boran means "ancient or classical" and Nuat is often translated as "massage", though it is not really massage as Americans think of it; but a holistic bodywork. It combines yoga-like stretches with treatment of the energy meridians ("sen lines"). It is a whole-body treatment technique in supine, side-lying, prone and sitting positions that increases flexibility and opens and balances the flow of energy throughout the body. The practitioners use their whole body in leverage and interactive work as they move and rock the client into various yoga-like positions and apply rhythmic pressure up and down the meridians. The client is fully clothed. Loose comfortable clothing is recommended.
